Editor changes at Popcorn Popping

10.10.06

We’re pleased to announce that S.P. Bailey has joined Popcorn Popping as an editor. Shawn is a rising star in the world of Mormon Letters. He took second place in the 2005 Irreantum fiction contest and second and third place in the 2006 BYU Studies poetry contest. And, of course, he is a contributor at A Motley Vision and was one of the inaugural contributors here at Popcorn Popping.

Shawn was brought on board this summer and has been working with contributors on their submissions, but he will now take on the additional responsibility of being a managing editor. He replaces Brian Gibson who is stepping down from his position to focus on his career, family and, we hope, a piece of fiction or two for publication here. Shawn brings a keen awareness of the needs of developing writers to the position as well as a passion for Mormon-themed content and a strong background in both fiction and poetry. We are confident that our readers and contributors will enjoy and benefit from his presence here at Popcorn Popping.

We are sad to see Brian go. He and Steve came up with the initial idea for the site. The name was his idea as well. But most of all, Brian was instrumental in developing the tone and scope of Popcorn Popping. He has been an articulate, passionate advocate for new writers and our community of readers and we are pleased to award him emeritus status.
