That's the final piece of news I was going to post tomorrow! I couldn't remember what it was or where I had seen it. Thanks, Andrew.

My guess about Signature was wrong. They recently announced two upcoming literary titles.

Her Side of It. Marilyn Bushman-Carlton. 100 pp., paperback, $16.95. ISBN: 978-1-56085-208-7. April 2010
A poetry collection, I assume.

A Sense of Order. Jack Harrell. 300 pp., hardback, $26.95. ISBN: 978-1-56085-209-4. May 2010.
A short story collection.

Thanks for doing this, Andrew. So much interesting stuff out there, so little time to read! Are you going to keep your annual reviews going from Japan?

Thanks for everybody's comments and corrections.
Joyce-I'm so sorry I misspelled your name! I feel bad about all the typos in the post and in my comments.

Jennie Hansen is the most prolific reviewer of Mormon fiction, she does 4-6 a month for Meridian Magazine, and won an AML prize for her reviews. Here is her website, where she archives the reviews.

It will be interesting to see how WiDo and Valor progress. Both use Brigham Distributing (owned and operated by Barry Reeder in Brigham City) to distribute their books.
Kristine at WiDo says, "We have over 100 bookstores which now carry our titles, and our goal is to increase that to 500."

Jennie --- I'm impressed you've read all but one. Not all of those are easy to find.

Jennie,

I'd welcome your opinion (and anyone else's) about the books Andrew mentioned and has read. He's done a nice job of sketching the big picture; I'd love to hear different people's take on the details.

Good job, Andrew. Though I don't agree with you on all counts, overall you've done a great job of looking at the peaks of 2009 Mormon fiction. I wish you had read all of the books mentioned (I have except for one). It would be fun to discuss them with you. Good luck in your new endeavor.

Thanks, Terry. Do you have a link to either Inglestone or Counting the Cost so interested people can find out more about it?

And since you brought it up: no one should be surprised if a work isn't mentioned. Andrew has to cobble this together from a bunch of web sites and e-mail inquiries and he is bound to miss works and make mistakes. All corrections and additions are welcome!

I am surprised that Liz Adair's Counting the Cost was not mentioned in this review. It is a well crafted romanitic think piece published as a first effort by Inglestone Publishing.
